This story is about our foster girl London. We know very little of London's previous life except for the events that led up to her coming to live with us on December 1, 2002.

London was found tied to the back of a pickup truck where she was being beaten by a man. He was using his hand and a very large rope with a knot tied on the end. A couple on the way to the casino's stopped at a local convenience store and saw this man beating her. The couple went over to the man and the husband grabbed the man's arm and told him to stop beating on the dog. He offered to pay him for the dog but the man refused. The husband offered again to pay the man more money than the first offer and the man said he would take that. The husband told him that they would be back after getting some money, to get her. While they had gone, the police came and arrested the man for public drunk and took the dog to the local animal shelter. After a couple of days the couple came to the shelter and adopted her. Their intentions were good but they had absolutely no knowledge on how to care for a Siberian Husky and she on several occasions escaped from their yard. On top of it all London was in heat and at some point was bred. On one of her "outings" my friend, who has already adopted one of our rescues, almost hit London with her car. She stopped and followed her into the neighborhood where she was "living". Cindy got out of her car and walked to her and began talking to her. The owner came out of her house and asked Cindy what she was doing and Cindy began to tell her about the leash laws and how easy it is for Siberians to escape. The owner then relinquished ownership to Cindy.

So on December 1, 2002, Cindy calls me at home and asks me to come look at this dog. She was afraid to take a strange dog in around her children and asked me if I could take her. I did. We named her London. I took London to the vet for her shots and she had worms so we gave her medicine from the vet to get rid of the worms.

On January 9, 2003 we found that London was pregnant. My husband and I decided to let her have the babies due to everything that she had already been thru and also because it was to late, per the vet, to do anything else. On January 31, 2003, London gave birth to 8 healthy babies.

Last week we had to take London back to the vet's office she was loosing so much weight that we were seeing ribs. The vet found that she had hookworms and roundworms and she has a uterine infection which is going to require a spay (she was to be spayed anyway but we were waiting till after the babies were old enough). I am happy to report that London is finally gaining weight and she is back to her happy self.

To own a dog is a wonderful experience
but to have a dog own you is a truly pleasurable experience.
